Google Bombing is the process or an act of ranking a website with irrelevant and unrelated search terms or link building. Google Bombing might be accidental or deliberate. It is accident when it was launched against a particular website by another set of web administrators with the aim of deranking the website.
Accidentally, Google Bombing is an act of building irrelevant heavy backlinks to a website by administrators of any websites. This is done mainly for antagonistic or political reasons. It involves providing backlinks to a targeted website with anchor texts that are irrelevant to the targeted website or the targeted web page.
For instance, when a popular or otherwisely authority website(s) is providing links to a targeted website that portray the political quality of a great politician but the anchor text is reading something like
watch the most stupid movie of the time whereas the targeted webpage contains political manifesto of the targeted politician.
On navigating to that website or webpage, the following might occur:
1) Google Search Engines would rank the website higher for enjoying heavy backlinks from such an authority website.
2) Your intention is to watch a movie but you meet disappointment scrolling down the page, fastly, to look for the video but with no one. This frustrates you and might lead to do the action contained in step 3 below.
3) The next is, you close the page or navigate back to the referring website. What you have done here is called
Pogosticking and carries strict penalty from the Google Search Engines Algorithms.
It caused the targeted website or webpage to be deranked and/or banned from appearing on the Google Search Engines Results Pages (SERPs).
However, this could also be caused Intentionally by the website administrator himself or herself. This is possible when the website administrator discovered that a particular keyword or set of keywords are ranking high on the Google SERPs. Instead of the administrator publishing a useful post on the keywords, he/she then update his/her website HTML to mimic the targeted keywords.
The Google Search Engines Algorithm might include the website in the SERPs but the pogosticking action of the user will definitely report the illegality. The website would be deranked or banned from appearing on the Google SERPs for optimizing his or her website around irrelevant keywords.
